                                      "A Rainbow Christmas"

                                  Being a pony story for Christmas

     It was Christmas time in Equestria. Only three days until Christmas. The pegasus ponies had just finished putting dark snow clouds up so that Ponyvile could have a white Christmas. The snow started falling but it wasn't cold enough for the snow to stick to the ground yet.  Rainbow Dash flew to the top of the clouds and laid down to take a nap. All of the clouds where put together into one giant cloud that covered all of Ponyvile. Being on top of the cloud reminded Rainbow Dash of winter. Dash could hear a radio that was playing from a store in the town beneath. The radio was playing "Jingle Bells", one of Dash's favorite Christmas songs. Dash listened to the song and gently fell asleep. About a half hour later Rainbow Dash was awakened by the sound of frantic ponies in the town beneath.
     "Whatever will we do!" a voice yelled out.
     "Everything is ruined!" yelled another voice.
     "Of all the things that could possibly happen this is
     THE
     WORST
     POSSIBLE
     THING!"
     Rainbow Dash flew down to see what had happened. She was surprised to see everypony in Ponyville was running around in a panic. Dr. Hooves ran by when Rainbow Dash said,
     "Hey Dr. Hooves what's going on?"
     "Just listen for yourself." said Dr. Hooves as he pointed to a radio in a nearby store.
     "Well everypony" said the pony on the radio, "It seems that this year Christmas will be canceled"
     "What!" yelled Rainbow Dash.
     "It seems that Donner, one of Santa's lead reindeer, had broke his leg in flying practice, and Santa can't get his sleigh off the ground with only seven reindeer. It seems that there will be no Christmas this year".
     Rainbow Dash was shocked to hear this but she knew exactly what she had to do. The blue Pegasus pony flew all the way to the library where Twilight lived. The library was inside of a giant tree and when Rainbow Dash got there she saw that Twilight had strung different colored Christmas lights throughout the branches. Dash also noticed a ten foot inflatable Santa standing in front of the library. Dash knocked on the door and Twilight answered.
     "Oh, hello Rainbow Dash. How are you?" said the purple unicorn.
     "Did you hear the news?" asked Rainbow Dash.
     "No" said Twilight "What happened"
     "One of Santa's reindeer broke his leg so now Christmas is going to be canceled unless somepony does something".
     "Canceled?" said Twilight "I don't think so".
     "What do you mean?" asked Rainbow Dash "How can you have Christmas without Santa?"
     "Rainbow Dash," said the purple unicorn "Christmas is more then just presents and Santa Claus."
     "You're wrong Twilight" said Rainbow Dash. "That is why I have to fly to the north pole and pull Santa's sleigh".
     "Do you really think you can do that?" asked Twilight.
     "Of course I can" said the arrogant pegasus, "I'm a lot stronger then any reindeer. In fact I bet that I can pull the sleigh all by myself".
     "I don't know" said Twilight, "There are millions of kids that Santa delivers toys to, and that means millions of toys in the sleigh. All of those toys would make the sleigh very heavy".
     "I think you forget who you're talking to." said Rainbow Dash, "I'm the pony that pulled off the sonic rainboom. If anypony is qualified to pull Santa's sleigh it's me".
     "Whatever you say Rainbow Dash now why did you com here?"
     "I need to know how to get to the north pole".
     "Just go north." Said Twilight
     "North?" asked Rainbow Dash.
     "Yes" said Twilight. "Here you better take this".
     A compase with a chain around it floated through the air and landed around Dash's neck.
     "Just follow the compass" explained Twilight, "and it will lead you to the north pole."
     "It's that easy?" asked Dash, "Alright I'll see you after Christmas."
Dash left before twilight could say anything eles. Rainbow Dash flew to her house . She didn't bother going in, she just waited outside and yelled,
     "Tank get out here!"
     Rainbow Dash's pet tortuous came flying out. Tank had a helicopter propeller attached to his shell so he could keep up with Rainbow Dash. Dash told Tank to follow her and she flew away. She looked back every once in a while to make sure that Tank was still following. He always was. It wasn't long before they arrived at Fluttershy's house. Rainbow Dash knocked on the door and Fluttershy answered.
     "Hi Fluttershy" said Rainbow Dash before the yellow Pegasus had time to answer. "Would  you mind taking care of Tank while I go away?"
     "You're leaving?" asked Fluttershy, "and so close to Christmas."
     "Well yeah I have to," said Dash, "On of Santa's reindeer hurt it's leg so now it's up to me to pull Santa's sleigh and save Christmas".
     "Save Christmas?" said Fluttershy, "Oh my, that sounds dangerous".
     "Well yeah" said Rainbow Dash, "but it has to be done, I mean without Santa there would be no Christmas".
     "Oh well I don't know about that." Fluttershy said quietly. "I mean um…Christmas is about more then just Santa".
     "I know" said Rainbow Dash, "It's also about presents".
     "Oh um that's not what I meant," said the shy pony, "It's about spending time with the ponies you care about".
     "Oh Fluttershy" said Dash, "Don't you know all of that bologna is just stuff parents tell you when they don't want you to be disappointed by your presents. Everypony knows that Christmas is all about presents".
     "Oh well um if that's true," said Fluttershy, "Then you don't have to go because all of your other friends and I always give you presents on Christmas."
     Rainbow Dash didn't say anything. She didn't want to hurt Fluttershy's feelings but Fluttershy always gave the worst gifts. In fact now that she thought about it all of her friends gave bad gifts. Fluttershy always gave Rainbow Dash some bird food so she could feed the birds when she's flying. Twilight Sparkle always gave Dash a book that Dash would never read. Rarity always gave her a scarf or a dress that was in style. Dash would use her gifts once in a while but they weren't something that she wanted. Apple Jack would give Dash some kind of Apple type food. Dash liked it but once she ate it the gift was gone, so it wasn't something that she wanted to get for Christmas, and finally, Pinkie Pie always gave Rainbow Dash something that didn't make any sense at all. Now that she thought about it, the only good gifts that Rainbow Dash would get are from Santa.
     "Look Fluttershy" Dash said "Can you just take care of Tank for me?"
     "Oh certainly" said the yellow pegasus, "but um…"
     "Thanks" said Rainbow Dash before Fluttershy could get out what she wanted to say.
     Then Dash took off. While she was in the air Rainbow Dash looked at the compass around her neck and flew in the direction that the arrow was pointing. Dash flew as fast as she could and even made a sonic rainboom.
     "I hope I didn't give anyone puberty" Dash said as she thought about her friends.
      Rainbow Dash then remembered that she was suppose to go Christmas caroling with her friends later that day. Rainbow Dash always looked forward to Christmas caroling with her friends every year.
     "Oh well," said Rainbow Dash, "There are just some things more important. I can go caroling with my friends next year".
     All of a sudden it got really cold. Rainbow Dash looked down at the compass and saw that the arrow spun around and was suddenly pointing in the opposite direction. She stopped suddenly and flew in the direction that the arrow on the compass was pointing. Then the compass arrow spun around again and stopped in the opposite direction.
     "Okay what's going on here!" said a frustrated Rainbow Dash, "It's probably broken. This old compass probably just can't handle traveling this fast".
     She decided to land so that she could try and fix the compass. She was in the middle of a snowstorm so she had trouble seeing anything around her. She walked forward for a little bit and in the distance she saw a white light. Rainbow Dash moved toward the light and as she got closer she noticed that the light was coming out of the top of a red and white stripped pole. There was a sign on the pole but Dash didn't bother to read it. She figured that with the light near her it would be easier to see the compass. Dash looked at the compass and walked around the pole to try and see it better. As she walked around the pole she noticed that the compass would always point at the pole. Dash examined the pole closer and saw that the sign on it said "North Pole".
     "I did it!" yelled the existed pony, "I'm at the North Pole!"
     "Who's out there?" yelled a voice coming from the distance.
     Rainbow Dash saw a little silhouette getting closer and closer.
     "It's me Rainbow Dash" the blue pony yelled out, "I'm here to save Christmas".
     The silhouette stepped into the light and Rainbow Dash saw that it was an elf. He was about three feet tall, he had whit hair, and he was wearing a red and white long sleeved shirt, green pants that were held up by red suspenders and a green hat and green pointy shoes.
     "Save Christmas?" said the little elf, "How are you going to do that?"
     "I'm going to help pull Santa's sleigh." said Rainbow Dash.
     "A little pony like you?" said the elf, "Do you really think you're strong enough for that?"
     "Hey I'm the strongest pony there is" said the arrogant pegasus, "and I'm fast too. I'm the only pegasus that can do a sonic rainboom".
     "Well" said the elf, "You're going to need to talk to Santa, but you can do that tomorrow night. Right now you should get some sleep. We don't normally get ponies up here but I think you would like the reindeer stables".
     The elf looked out and saw that the snowstorm got worse as they were talking.
     "The storm is getting pretty bad." he said, "Maybe you should just stay with me".
     "Oh thank you, that would be great" said Rainbow Dash.
     "By the way my name is Jingle" said the elf. "Nice to meet you Rainbow Dash".
     "Nice to meet you too" said Dash.
     Jingle then took Rainbow Dash to a nice little house. There were only four rooms, a bed room, a living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom.
     "You can sleep on the couch." said Jingle as he got a pillow and a blanket out from the closet in the bedroom.
     Rainbow Dash said "Thank You" and took the pillow and the blanket and gently fell asleep on the couch.


     The next morning Rainbow Dash was awaken by the sound of laughter. She got up and looked outside the window to see hundreds of laughing elves running in the same direction. Jingle ran in and said really quickly
"Sorry Rainbow Dash but I've got to go. I left a map of the North Pole on the desk over there; just follow it to Santa's house".
     "Wait", said Rainbow Dash, "Where are you going? Where are those elves going? Why are they laughing?"
     "I'm going to work, so are those elves, and they're laughing because they love their job and they're existed. Bye"
Jingle ran out of the room leaving Rainbow Dash by herself.
     "I wonder what my friends are doing now." She thought, "Oh well it doesn't matter I've got a holiday to save".
     Rainbow Dash followed the map over to Santa's house. When Dash looked at it she realized that the word "house" was a bit of an understatement. Santa's house was more like a castle it was so big. Two six foot tall nutcrackers were standing on each side of the door. Rainbow Dash walked up to the door, which was five times taller then she was. Dash knocked on the door and one of the nutcrackers said,
     "Can I help you?"
     Dash was so surprised by the talking nutcracker that she jumped back.
     "You can talk?" asked Dash
     "Why of coarse I can." Said the nutcracker, "Now, can I help you?"
     "Oh yeah" said Rainbow Dash, "I'm here to see Santa".
     "Do you have an appointment?" asked the nutcracker.
     "Well… no but I heard about that reindeer hurting its leg so I thought I'd come here to save Christmas".
     "You?" laughed the nutcracker "A pegasus? I bet you can't even break the sound barrier".
     "Oh yeah" said Dash as she started to fly upwards. When she was high enough she flew back down and preformed a sonic rainbooom.
     "Okay" said the nutcracker, "I guess you can break the sound barrier but you're such a little pony".
     "I know" said Rainbow Dash, "but I'm really strong and I know I can do it. Why don't you just give me a chance what have you got to loose?"
     "Well alright" said the nutcracker as he opened the door. "Santa should be in his office now. It's the third door on the left on the second floor".
     "Thank you" said Rainbow Dash as she flew to Santa's office.
     When she got there Dash knocked on the door. Santa answered and said,
     "Why hello Rainbow Dash what a pleasant surprise. What can I do for you?"
     "Wow" said Dash, "You know my name?"
     "Why of coarse I do" said Santa, "I give you presents every Christmas of coarse I would know your name".
     "Oh yeah" said Dash, "Anyway, I heard about your reindeer and I thought that I could help you pull your sleigh and that way we would still have Christmas".
     "Oh" said Santa "That's a good idea but the sleigh is really heavy and we travel really fast. Do you think you're up for it?"
     "You do know me don't you Santa?" said Dash, "Of coarse I'm up for it".
     "I'm warning you" said Santa, "It's going to be more difficult then you think".
     "I'll be fine" said Rainbow Dash.
     "Okay" said Santa, "I'll tell everyone that Christmas is back on in the mean time you should go to the reindeer stables, find Blitzen and give him this." Santa quickly wrote down a note and gave it to Rainbow Dash.
     "Oh thank you sir" said Dash.
     Dash was about to go away when Santa said, "Good luck Rainbow Dash".
     "Thank you Santa" said Dash as she flew out of there.
     Dash followed the map to the reindeer stables. When Dash go there se found eight sleeping reindeer, one with a cast on his right front leg.
     "Wake up!" Dash screamed.
     All of the reindeer woke up.
     "Hey what's going on?" said one of the reindeer.
     "Christmas is back on because I'm going to help pull the sleigh. Name's Rainbow Dash. No need to thank me."
     The reindeer started to laugh.
     "A little pony is going to take my place?" laughed the reindeer with the cast.
     "Hey I'm not kidding. Santa told me to give this to Blitzen".
     "I'm Blitzen" said one of the reindeer.
     He was the biggest one. Blitzen read the note and said,
     "Well looks like Christmas is back on".
     All of the reindeer were shocked.
     "But Blitzen," said one of the reindeer, "How can a pegasus take Donner's place?"
     "I know it's weird Prancer," said Blitzen, "but Santa has it here in his note. We are to continue training and train this pony before Christmas".
     "I don't know why you guys think I can't do it" said Rainbow Dash, "I bet I can pull the sleigh all by myself and I could do it faster then any of you reindeer".
Blitzen looked down at Rainbow Dash.
     "We train three hundred and sixty four days a year and we do the most important job on Christmas and you say you can do it better then all of us combined?" said Blitzen in an ominous voice.
     "I don't think I can" said Rainbow Dash, "I know I can".
     "Well Rainbow Dash" said Blizten, "Why don't we have a little test to see if you really can pull the sleigh all by yourself?"
     "Alright let's"
Blitzen lead Rainbow Dash and the other reindeer to a sleigh. Each reindeer, except for Donder, put weights in the sleigh.
     "Why don't you pull the sleigh once around the North Pole?" said Blitzen.
     "Don't mind if I do". Said Rainbow Dash.
Dash hitched herself up to the sleigh and tried to pull. Nothing happened. She tried even harder. Still nothing happened. The little pegasus tried as hard as she could but no matter how hard she tried Dash just couldn't get the sleigh to move. After a while Dash grew tired and gave up. The reindeer all laughed at her.
     "Well 'Miss. I can pull the sleigh all by myself' that's not even half of the weight on the sleigh on Christmas eve." Said Blitzen.
     "You have got to be kidding me?" said Dash.
     "You've still got a lot of learning to do kid".


      It was time to start Rainbow Dash's first day of training. The reindeer had to try to train her as much as they could. They had the rest of that day and the day after to train. The day after that was Christmas Eve.
"Alright Rainbow Dash" said Blizten, "We're just going to start off with some flying practice. Just follow me and try to keep up".
"Now this I can do." Said Rainbow Dash, "maybe I can't pull the sleigh all by myself buy I know I'm fast".
Blitzen took off and the other six reindeer followed. Rainbow Dash took off and flew in front of all of the other six. She flew right up next to Blizten and waved to him. Blitzen flew faster. Dash caught up with him again and then looked behind her. She noticed that the six other reindeer were right behind her. Blitzen then flew faster and broke the sound barrier. The six other reindeer past up Rainbow Dash and broke the sound barrier as well. Dash concentrated and pulled of the sonic rainboom. She past up the six reindeer and flew next to Blitzen again. The six other reindeer didn't mind flying in Dash's rainbow tail but it was a bit distracting so Blitzen decided to loose Dash and all of a sudden Blitzen disappeared. The six other reindeer past up Rainbow Dash and they also disappeared.
     Dash stopped and looked around. The other reindeer were no where to be seen. Then all of a sudden Blitzen and the other six reindeer seemed to appear behind Rainbow Dash.
"I thought I told you to keep up" Blitzen said.
"What happened you all just disappeared?" asked Dash
"You know how you can break the sound barrier?" said Blitzen, "Well we broke the light barrier".
     "Do you mean you flew faster then the speed of light?" asked Rainbow Dash.
     "Yup"
     "But I thought it was impossible to move faster then the speed of light".
     "Only if you believe it is." Said Blitzen.
The reindeer and Rainbow Dash spent four hours flying around. The reindeer would follow Blitzen. He would always try to fly through some obstacles. Once in a while he would fly faster then the speed of light again and Rainbow Dash just stopped and waited for them to come back, which never took long. After the four hours were up it was time for lunch.
Blitzen lead the reindeer and Dash to the reindeer stables. Inside there was a large dish where all of the reindeer gathered around.
     "Easy on the grain today" said Blitzen, "We are suppose to be eight tiny reindeer". While Blitzen said this he looked at one of the reindeer who was slightly overweight.
Rainbow Dash laughed a little. Blitzen pulled a rope that was hanging from the ceiling and grain poured out into the dish. Rainbow Dash ate some even though she didn't particularly care for grain. She was hungry from all of the flying she had been doing. A reindeer walked up beside Rainbow Dash and said,
     "Hi Rainbow Dash, My name is Vixen". From the voice Dash could tell that the reindeer was a girl but was surprised because she had large antlers.
     "You're a girl?" asked Dash.
     "Why of course I am". Said Vixen.
     "I don't mean to be rude or anything," said Rainbow Dash, "but I thought only boy deer had antlers".
     "Reindeer are the only deer in the world where both the males and the females grow antlers." Said Vixen.
     "Oh wow I didn't know that." Said Dash.
     "Well know you do." Laughed Vixen.
     "Are there any other girls on the team?" asked Dash.
     "Nope, just us kid." Said Vixen.
     "Hey Vixen, is Blitzen always like this?" asked Dash.
     "Oh yeah," replied Vixen, "It's nothing but training for him. He sees himself as our leader. He's real tough and he especially likes to pick on new reindeer. Whenever a new reindeer wants to join the team Blitzen always scares them off. That's why we have had the same team for so long. So if I were you I'd watch out. Don't worry though I'll try to make sure he's not to mean to you. He always listens to me".
     "Thanks" said Rainbow Dash.
     "No problem," replied Vixen, "We girls have got to stick together".
When they were done eating Blitzen had an elf hook them all up to a sleigh. The elf put a large number of weights in the sleigh. More then were in the sleigh this morning.
     "Okay team," said Blitzen, "All of the weights in the sleigh make it weigh about the same that it's going to weigh on Christmas Eve. Remember we have to stay in line, no breaking formation. Rainbow Dash you'll be in the front next to me. It's were Donner would be if he could be here. Normally I wouldn't put a new comer in the front but all of the reindeer are use to their spots so you're just going to be up here".
     "Now Blitzen don't be to hard on her." Said Vixen, "She's my friend".
Vixen batted her eyes and Blitzen gave a stupid laughed and said, "Okay Vixen".
     The team took off. Dash had an easier time with the sleigh then she did that morning. She thought that it was probably because the other reindeer were helping her. They flew about three hundred feet up in the air. They kept going faster and faster until they broke the sound barrier, which made something that was like a combination of a sonic boom and a sonic rainboom because Rainbow Dash and the reindeer broke the sound barrier at the same time and at the same place. Dash had no trouble staying in formation. If Blitzen started to go left, Dash would go left. If Blitzen started to go up or down, Dash would go up or down. It was pretty easy stuff for Rainbow Dash. After a while Rainbow Dash noticed that there was no more snow. They slowed down a little bit, just enough for them to be able to here each other.
     "Hey Blitzen," yelled Rainbow Dash, "Where are we going?"
     "We are flying back to the North Pole" said Blitzen.
     "But we are going south." Dash noticed.
     "Hey the world is round right?"
     Dash thought that Blitzen was joking but he wasn't. They flew around the earth until they got back to the North Pole. When they got back Blitzen said,
     "Well, we're slower then usual, so our speed definitely needs work, but other then that good job today team".
     Dash noticed that it was night.
     "Do you mean that we're done for today?" asked Rainbow Dash.
     "Just for today." Said Blitzen.
Dash was happy to here that. She was exhausted from that long flight. Vixen noticed how tired Rainbow Dash was.
     "If you think that's hard just wait until the real thing." Vixen said, "It's that but for twenty-four hours".
     "I don't think I can do it." Said Rainbow Dash.
     "Of coarse you can kid I believe in you." Said Vixen.
That night at the stables the reindeer sat around a fire telling stories and laughing. Rainbow Dash sat alone and looked out the window at the northern lights. She whished her friends were there with her. Dash didn't seem to fit in with the reindeer. Sure she was friends with Vixen but the other reindeer didn't seem to understand her, and she didn't understand them.


     The next day was the day before Christmas Eve. Blitzen woke them up bright and early.
     "Okay team, we have a lot of work to do. We've got to get in shape for tomorrow so we need to practice flying while attached to the sleigh again. We were really slow yesterday so we need to try and move faster by the end of today. Think you can handle that." He said as he looked at Rainbow Dash.
     The team was hooked up to the sleigh in there usual spots. The weights were placed in the sleigh and they took off. It took no time at all for them to break the sound barrier, but once they got to a certain speed they stayed there. Dash tried to go faster but she just couldn't. By the time they got back to the North Pole it was lunch time already.
     "Come one team" said Blitzen, "We need to move faster. Do you all want to ruin Christmas? After lunch I want to fly around the earth at least three more times before we stop for the day and I expect you all to fly faster".
     "Three more times?" Dash thought, "Yesterday we only flew around the earth once and that took us from after lunch until when it was time to stop".
Dash went in the stables. She saw Vixen and the other reindeer eating out of the big dish. Rainbow Dash went up to Vixen and said,
     "Hey Vixen can I talk to you?"
     "Sure thing Dashie" said the female reindeer. They walked out of the stables and when they were both outside Rainbow Dash said,
     "Vixen I don't think I can do this".
     "That's nonsense," said Vixen, "Of course you can, you are the fastest pegasus that I know".
     "How many pagasi do you know?" asked Dash
     "Well, not many but that's not the point" said Vixen, "The point is I know that you have it in you and I know that you can do this".
     "Vixen when we were flying just now I flew as fast as I could. I just couldn't go any faster and I still couldn't go fast enough. It's just not possible".
     "Rainbow Dash, who was the pony who won the young flyers competition?"
     "I was" said Rainbow Dash.
     "Who was the pony that preformed the sonic rainboom, something no other pegasus can do?"
     "I was"
     "See Dash you've beaten the odds before and I know you can do it again".
     "I'll try" said Dash, "By the way how did you know all that stuff about me?"
     "The naughty and nice files," said Vixen, "I got up last night when everyone else was sleeping and I looked at your file. Now let's go eat something you'll need your strength if we're going to fly around the world three more times.
     After lunch the sleigh team hooked up to the sleigh again and they took off. Dash tried as hard as she could. She thought of her friends and how happy they'd be when they'd wake up Christmas morning to see all of the presents that Santa had brought them. The team managed to make it around the world twice and they were late coming back.
     "Well that will have to do." Said Blitzen, "We're not nearly as fast as we were last year but there is nothing else we can do now. All we can do is hope for the best".
     Rainbow Dash went right to sleep after that. She was tired but she was also worried. She was worried that she didn't have what it took to pull Santa's sleigh, and all she wanted was to go home and be with her friends.


     Blitzen woke up all of the reindeer early the next morning. Rainbow Dash looked outside and noticed that it was still dark out. She then looked at the clock and said,
     "Hey Blitzen, it's not even midnight yet".
     "I know," said Blitzen, "Midnight is when we take off. Our first stop is New Zealand where it is 11:50pm Christmas Eve right now".
     "So wait we're going to be doing this all day?" asked Rainbow Dash.
     "Twenty-four hours." Said Blitzen, "It's because whatever time it is at one place on earth is different then it is at another place. Now, enough talking it's time to get to the take off zone downtown".
     As they were walking downtown Rainbow Dash walked up to Blitzen.
     "Hey Blitzen," she said, "I just wanted to say I'm sorry in advanced if I'm not fast enough".
     "Don't be silly Rainbow Dash you'll be fine." Blitzen.
     "What do you mean?" asked Dash, "Yesterday you said that we needed to be a lot faster".
     "Oh that? Don't worry I was just trying to encourage everyone to fly faster, and I know you will do the best that you can and that's all that I want".
     "Really?" asked the blue pegasus pony, "But wont we not have enough time to deliver all of the presents if I slow you guys down?"
     "Rainbow Dash we have all the time in the world." Said Blitzen, "Santa uses a spell that slows down time around the sleigh. As long as you're within fifty feet of the sleigh when one second goes by it will feel like thirty minutes to you, and if we're moving slower then normal Santa can manipulate the spell to make time even slower. How else do you think we circumnavigated the whole earth in one night?'
     "I just thought you guys were really fast." Said Dash.
     "Well that's part of it," said Blitzen, "But do you really think Santa can move that fast. He has to go to hundreds of houses every minute on Christmas Eve. The spell is how he does it. So don't worry Rainbow Dash, you will be fine.
     The talk Dash had with Blitzen made her feel better and she relized that she could do this.
     "Oh and you'll need these". Blitzen gave Dash a fake pair of antlers that attached to her head. Dash put them on and continued to walk to the take off zone.
     When they got there Dash was surprised to see thousands of elves and they were all cheering for her and the other reindeer. Dash couldn't help but to show off a little. She flew around doing different kinds of tricks.
     "Hey save your energy for when it's time to go." Yelled Vixen.
     "I've got to give the people what they want." Said Rainbow Dash.
     She landed with the reindeer and then the clock struck twelve and everyone was quiet.
     "Why's everyone quite?" asked Rainbow Dash.
     "Shhh" said Vixen, "It's time"
     Every elf, reindeer, and pony was looking at a big building in the middle of the downtown area. Then all of a sudden all of the elves started to sing.
"You better watch out, You better not cry, You better not pout I'm telling you why, Santa Claus is coming to town".
     At that moment Santa walked out of the building that they were all starring at. All of the elves started cheering. The reindeer and Rainbow Dash started stomping their hooves. Santa walked up to Rainbow Dash and said,
     "Do you still think you can pull my sleigh?"
     "Of course I can." Said Dash.
     Santa then pulled out a harness from behind his back and said,
     "I made this for you".
     The harness was red and had Rainbow Dash's name in the middle of it and was lined with jingle bells.
     "I love it Santa." Said Dash.
     The elves then hooked the reindeer up to the sleigh and Santa got in. Santa grabbed the reins and called out,
     "On Dasher, on Dancer, on Prancer, and Vixen, on Comet, on Cupid, on Rainbow Dash, and Blitzen"
     Santa snapped the reins and they took off. They flew around the North Pole a couple times while the elves cheered. After flying around the North Pole the second time Santa yelled out,
     "To the top of the porch, to the top of the wall, now dash away, dash away, dash away all".
     Santa snapped the reins again and with a sonic rainboom they were gone. They flew as fast as Rainbow Dash could all the way to New Zealand, where they stopped at their first house. They landed on the roof and Santa went down the chimney while the reindeer and Rainbow Dash waited for Santa.
     "How long does this usually take?" asked Rainbow Dash.
     "It depends" Blitzen answered, "Sometimes it takes a few seconds sometimes it takes close to a half hour".
     "Really that long?" asked Dash.
     "Yup," replied Blitzen, "Although thanks to that spell Santa puts on the sleigh in reality it only takes about a second if that".
Santa came back up the chimney after about ten minutes and Dash noticed that he had something in his hands.
     "This house left some carrots for you guys," said Santa as he handed each reindeer a carrot. As he gave Dash her carrot he said,
     "I forgot to tell you some houses leave carrots out for the reindeer".
     "Thanks Santa" Rainbow Dash said as she ate her carrot.
     Then they flew to the next house. Rainbow Dash noticed that flying with Santa was easier then flying was when they would practice. It was because Dash didn't have to try and predict were Blitzen was going she just had to feel which way Santa was pulling the reins and fly in that direction.
     After what seemed to be a day they were done with New Zealand and then went on to the rest of the world.
     "This is going to be a long night" said the little pony.
     They would rest every once in a while. After all they had all the time in the world. Dash needed these rests, she was very exhausted. Once Rainbow Dash and the reindeer got their strength back started again.
     "How long have we been out here?" asked Dash.
     "About an hour" Said Blitzen.
     "An hour?! It feels like it's been a day."
     "That's because of that spell Santa uses." Said Blitzen.
    Dash really started to miss her friends. She wondered what they were doing to prepare for Christmas.
     "Twilight is probably reading a Christmas book like A Christmas Carol." Thought Dash, "And I bet Rarity is putting the finishing touches on the dresses that she's going to give everypony for Christmas. Apple Jack is probably making apple pie for Christmas dinner, and I bet Pinkie is making Christmas cookies for Santa. Fluttershy is probably getting all of her animals ready for Christmas".
     The more Dash thought of her friends the more she missed them. After a while she started talking about her friends with the reindeer but they didn't seem interested.
They all passed the time by playing games like "eye spy" and "twenty questions". They played this one game that Rainbow Dash really liked. A reindeer would sing a line in a Christmas carol and someone else had to sing the next line. Dash really liked that game. Sometimes Santa would turn on the radio that was in the sleigh and they would listen to Christmas music. When he first turned on the radio the first song that came on was "Silent Night". Rainbow Dash remembered that "Silent Night" is Fluttershy's favorite Christmas song. Rainbow Dash really wished that her friends were with her.
After what seemed to be about a month they were almost done.
     "We just have to deliver presents to Equestria and we'll be done." Said Santa.
     They all cheered and Rainbow Dash was existed to be going back to Equestria. She noticed the houses of some ponies that she new and she was very happy to be back home. They delivered presents to Cloudsdale, Fillydelphia, and even Ponyville. Dash loved being back in Ponyville. She pointed out all of her friends' houses and she told all of the reindeer stories about her life in Ponyville. Rainbow Dash was kind of sad when she had to leave but she was also happy that she was almost done and she'll get to see her friends soon.
     "After this last house in Ponyville will go to Manehattan and then we'll be done." Said Santa.
     The reindeer and Rainbow Dash cheered and Santa motioned for them to be quiet. The seven reindeer and the blue pegasus pony waited patiently on top of the roof for Santa to come out of the chimney. When he finally did Santa fell over.
     "Ow," he said, "I think I sprained my ankle".
     "Oh no" said Comet, "What will we do?"
     "Well we're just going to have to skip Manehattan." Said Santa, "It's such a shame to, they've been really good this year, and I'd hate to let Emily down".
     "Who's Emily?" asked Rainbow Dash.
     "She's a young filly who lost her parents in a fire a few months ago. She lives with her grandparents now and they don't have a lot of money. All Emily wanted this year was a doll but the doll she wants is to expensive for her grandparents to be able to afford. She's our last stop and I was really hoping to give her that doll she so desperately wants but I guess we can't do that now".
     "I can deliver the presents" said Dash.
     "Rainbow Dash, Do you really think you can deliver the presents?" said Santa.
     "Why of course I can" said Rainbow Dash, "I came here to save Christmas didn't I?"
Santa nodded and Rainbow Dash helped the injured Santa back into his sleigh. Santa looked in one of his bags and took out a Santa suite specially made to fit Rainbow Dash and said,
     "I was going to give this to you on Christmas but I guess now is a better time".
     "Wow thank you Santa!" said Rainbow Dash.


Now begins my part of the story. You see I was the first house Rainbow Dash delivered toys too and I was lucky enough to see it all. Here's what happened.

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care
In hopes that Saint Nicholas soon would be there.
The fillies were nestled all snug in their beds
While visions of sugar cubes danced in their heads.
And ma in her kerchief and I in my cap
Had just settled our brains for a long winters nap
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter
Away to the window I galloped in a flash
Tore open the shutters and through up the sash
The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow
Gave a luster of midday to objects below
When what should my wandering eye should appear?
But a miniature sleigh pulled by…only seven reindeer.
The eighth reindeer was obviously a phony
When I looked closer I saw that it was a blue pegasus pony.
She flew around in a flash
And I new in a second that it much be Rainbow Dash.
More rapid then eagles they came
And Santa whistled and shouted and called them by name
"On Dasher, on Dancer, on Prancer and Vixen, on Comet, on Cupid, on RainbowDash    and Blitzen, to the top of the porch, to the top of the wall, now dash away, dash away, dash away all".
Up to the housetop the reindeer and Rainbow Dash flew
With a sleigh full of toys and Saint Nicholas too.
Then I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
Then downstairs I heard a loud crash,
But when I went down I didn't see Santa, I saw young Rainbow dash.
She was dressed all in fur from her head to her hoof
And her clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot.
A spread of her wings and a twist of her head
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread
She filled the stockings up with all the new toys and toys that were newer
This Christmas was definitely 20 % cooler.
Then laying her hoof aside of her noise
And flapping her wings up the chimney she rose.
Then from outside I heard a load ka-boom.
When I looked out the window I saw a sonic rainboom.
I heard Dash exclaim as she flew out of sight
"Pony Christmas to all and to all a good night!"


     Rainbow Dash delivered the toys all throughout Manehattan. It wasn't hard for her. Santa would lead them to the house; Dash would take off her harness and then put on the Santa suite. She grabbed the bag of toys that Santa gave her and she flew down the chimney. Santa told her the names of the ponies who lived in the house they were at because there was a note attached to each present so that Dash never delivered the wrong one. All she had to do was put the presents under the tree or in a stocking and take the notes off. Oh and Dash loved the cookies. Some ponies left sugar cookies, others left chocolate chip, and some even left peanut butter cookies. Rainbow Dash loved playing Santa, but she wished her that her friends were with her. Because of Santa's spell the whole trip felt like a month so by now Rainbow Dash was really missing her friends, but she was happy that she was almost done and that she could go back to her friends soon.
Their last stop was a small old house that seemed like it was falling apart. The whole house needed to be painted, the shingles were falling off, and there was a dead tree in the front yard. When they got there Santa said,
     "Rainbow Dash, this is Emily's house. You know that young filly I told you about. Make sure that everything is perfect for her".
     "I will Santa" said Rainbow Dash.
The blue pony flew down the chimney while wearing her Santa costume. When she came out she was in a small living room. There was a stocking hung on the fireplace that had the name "Emily" on it. The walls were stained and desperately needed to be painted. There was a little Christmas tree in the corner. The white lights on that little tree seemed to illuminate the entire living room. On the coach in front of the fireplace there was a little filly who had fallen asleep waiting for Santa. She had a gold coat and a brown mane. She was so young that she didn't have her cutie mark yet. Dash covered her with a blanked and when she did the young filly woke up.
     "Santa is that you?" the sleepy filly asked.
     "Yes it is" said Rainbow Dash in a deep voice, "and you must be Emily."
     "Yup that's me" said the filly.
     "I've heard that you haven't had the easiest year" Dash said.
     "No I haven't" said Emily, "I lost my parents and had to move in with my grandma and grandpa. And they don't have a lot of money so they weren't able to get a lot of Christmas presents this year".
     "Well Emily" said Dash, "I'm here to make sure that you have a wonderful Christmas". Rainbow Dash took the sack of toys and pulled out a very expensive but very beautiful doll. Emily's eyes lit up.
     "Oh thank you Santa!" she said, "It's just what I wanted how did you know?!"
     "I have my ways" said Dash. Emily hugged Rainbow Dash and Dash started to tear up.
     "Well um…I've got to get going." Said Dash as she tried to hold back her tears.
Dash left more presents in Emily's stocking and a few more under the tree and then flew back up the chimney.
     "How did it go Dash?" asked Santa as she flew out of the chimney.
     "It was great." Said Dash trying to hold back her tears.


     When they flew back to the North Pole Dash flew as faster then she ever had before. She was so happy to be going back to the North Pole because it meant that she would soon be going home to see her friends. When they got back all of the elves gathered around and were cheering. Santa yelled out,
     "Thanks to Rainbow Dash, this Christmas was a success". All of the elves cheered for Rainbow Dash and Santa walked off the sleigh.
     "Hey I thought you hurt your ankle." Said Dash. Santa smiled and winked at Rainbow Dash and then walked away.
All of the reindeer were congratulating each other when Blitzen looked at Rainbow Dash and said,
     "You know kid for a pegasus you did alright".
     "Thanks Blitzen" said Dash
     Jingle the elf unhooked Rainbow Dash and congratulated her on a job well done.
    "Hey Jingle, when do you think I can go home?" Dash asked.
     "Oh well it's about 12:15 in Ponyville so I guess you can go back now but no one would be awake". Then Dash got a great idea.
     "Hey Jingle," she said, "You know how to make Christmas presents right?"
     "That's right" said Jingle.
    "We still have ten hours before I have to be back in Ponyville do you think you can help me with something?"
     "Sure thing" said the exited elf, and they both walked to the workshop.


     At about 10 o' clock all the ponies in Ponyville were up. They all rushed to their living rooms to see what Santa brought them and they all got what they wanted. When Rainbow Dash came flying back in her Santa suite everypony was cheering for her. She was caring a big bag and saw that her friends were sitting by the Christmas tree in the middle of town so she landed there.
     "Merry Christmas everypony." Said the Santa pony.
     "Merry Christmas Rainbow Dash" her friends said.
     "I really missed you guys" Dash said.
     "We missed you too." Said Pinkie.
     Dash then told them all about what she had been through. They were all impressed and they all told Dash how proud they were to call her their friend.
     "Hey what's in the bag?" asked Spike, "Are they presents?" Twilight glared at Spike and said,
     "Spike that's not polite"
     Rainbow Dash laughed and said, "Yes Spike they are presents that I made for all of you". Rainbow Dash took the presents out of the bag and passed them out to all of her friends.
     "Can I open mine first?" asked Spike anxiously.
     Twilight glared at him again but Dash just laughed and said, "Sure you can Spike".
     Spike opened his present to find a bag of the most beautiful gems he had ever seen.
     "Wow Rainbow Dash these look delicious. Thanks"
     "No problem buddy" said Rainbow Dash.
     "Ooo I'm next" said Pinkie Pie.
     "Okay Pinkie" said Dash.
     When Pinkie opened her present she found a bag whoopee cushions and a joy buzzer.
     "I thought we could pull some pranks together after Christmas." Dash said.
     "Oh Dashie this is great!" said the excited Pink Pony, "For Christmas I normally get a bunch of boring stuff. These are the types of things I want. Thank you so much".
     "You're welcome Pinkie Pie." Said Rainbow Dash, "Hey Rarity why don't you open your present next?"
     Rarity opened her present to find a beautiful dress that sparkled in the sunlight. It was covered in beautiful gems.
     "Why Rainbow Dash," said Rarity, "It's simply marvelous. This is the most beautiful dress that I've ever seen,and the gems are simply divine. Thank you so much".
     "You're welcome Rarity. An elf helped me make it. I'm really not that good at sowing".
     Twilight was next. She opened up her present and found a book titled "101 magic spells that are used for Christmas".
     "I looked through all of the magic books at North Pole and found the best spells and put them together in this book for you".
     "Wow Rainbow Dash, this book is great I can't wait to read it." Said Twilight, "Thank you".
     Apple Jack opened her present next. It was a green scarf that had pictures of apples going down it.
     "I noticed that other scarf you had was falling apart, and this one seems more like you anyway." Said Rainbow Dash.
     "Why Rainbow Dash I love it." Said Apple Jack, "and you're right this scarf does seem more like me doesn't it?'
     Apple Jack put the scarf on and said, "Why it's nice and warm too, thanks sugar cube".
     Fluttershy was the last pony to open her present. When she opened it up she found a bag of corn.
     "Oh thank you" said Fluttershy, "I can feed it to the animals".
     "That's not just any corn" said Rainbow Dash, "It's magic corn. Santa feeds it to the reindeer to make them fly. I thought that maybe some of your animals that don't have wings might like to fly and you might like flying around with them".
     "Oh Rainbow Dash it's perfect" said the shy pony, "I just love it".
     They then heard a sound coming from underneath the big tree behind them.
     "What's that?" asked Twilight.
     They looked under the tree and they saw Derpy all tangled up in red ribbon.
     "I'm a gift" Derpy said.
     They all laughed and Rainbow Dash looked in her bag.
     "Here you go Derpy, Merry Christmas" She said as she gave Derpy a muffin.
     "Wow thanks for the muffin" Derpy said.
     "You're welcome" said Dash.
     Then they all went to Twilight's library and all of Dash's friends gave her Christmas presents. It was all the usual stuff that Rainbow Dash usually didn't normally care for, but this year she was happy to get all of it. She was also happy to be with her friends and she thanked them hundreds of times for her presents.
     "Spike would you mind writing a letter to Princes Celestia for me?" asked Rainbow Dash.
     "No I don't mind" said Spike as he got out a paper and a quill.

     "Dear Princess Celestia,

     I just wanted to tell you that this Christmas I've learned a lot. I've learned that it truly is better to give then to receive, because Christmas isn't about Santa or elves or reindeer or even presents. It's about being with the ponies you care about because nothing is more important then spending time with the ponies you love because one day you might not have them. And even if you get a present that you don't really like you should be grateful that you got a present in the first place because someponies don't even get that.
